Traditional high-end watchmaker Breguet has also unveiled a special women’s model to celebrate the upcoming Valentine’s Day 2023. Based on the design of the women’s Classic Moon Phase 9088 launched in 2016, the Valentine’s Day Edition’s unique personality is revealed through changes in dial details and strap options.
The Classic Moon Phase de Lune 9085 Valentine’s Day Edition is presented in a white gold case. The case is 30 mm in diameter and 9.85 mm thick, almost the same size as the previous classic Dame Moon Phase series (versions 9087 and 9088). A total of 66 brilliant-cut diamonds (approximately 1.04 carat) are set on the top of the bezel and lugs to appeal to the splendor.
The dial features the traditional Clou de Paris Guilloché pattern on a rose engine lathe on a delicate white mother-of-pearl background. On the outside of the dial, which has the unique texture of mother-of-pearl, a dot-shaped minute track is black-stamped with Breguet numerical (number) indexes, another signature of the house, and 2-4-6-8-10-12 in even numbers. A ruby is set in the center of the corresponding gold index, emphasizing the feminine beauty.
And if you look closely, the detailed finish of the moon phase disc also shows a big difference from the existing classic moon phase 9088 series. Unlike previous works that engraved the anthropomorphic shape of the moon, the new limited edition is hand-hammered with a special tool and has a gold moon reminiscent of the surface of the moon. The movement, like the previous classic Moonphase 9088 models, is equipped with an in-house automatic caliber 537L. Comprising a total of 231 parts and 26 jewels, the 537L caliber vibrates 25,200 times per hour (3.5 hertz) and guarantees a power reserve of approximately 45 hours. As with other Breguet Manufacture movements, the escapement and balance spring are made of high-tech silicon material impervious to magnetism. In addition, the 18K gold rotor is hand-engraved with a colorful concentric guilloché pattern of barleycorn motifs, highlighting the House’s DNA once again. Of course, you can admire the movement through the transparent sapphire crystal caseback.
The Classic Moonphase 9085 Valentine’s Day Edition comes with two color straps, red alligator leather and pearl white alligator leather, as standard in the Valentine’s Day box set. What is noteworthy is that, like the latest classic Dame 8068 products released in 2022, the so-called rapid interchange system is applied, so you can easily change the strap according to the TPO and mood of the day without any tools.
