In 2020, the high-end watchmaker Breguet announced the Tradition Quantième Retrograde 7597, a new type of complication model that displays the date in retrograde form in the Tradition collection. It drew a lot of attention. Following the previous work with a silvered guilloché dial on two cases in white gold and rose gold, a new successor version with a blue guilloché dial is added this year after two years.
The new Tradition Quantum Retrograde 7597 is presented in a white gold case. The overall specifications are the same as the previous model, as only the off-center dial to indicate the hour and minute, the date indicator to indicate the date, and the strap color have been changed. The white gold case has a diameter of 40mm and a thickness of 12.1mm, and is water resistant to 30m. Inspired by the replica Breguet House’s historic pocket watches, the iconic case design continues with subtle vertical fluted embellishments on the sides. The unique inverted design, which exposes the movement’s main plate as the dial surface, so that you can appreciate the gear train, remains the same. The balance wheel is fixed by a bridge between the 3 and 4 o’clock positions, and you can also see the unique Pare-chute shock-absorbing mechanism invented in 1790 by the great founder Abraham-Louis-Breguet. And between the 7 and 8 o’clock positions, the center wheel and bridge made with the same diameter as the balance are placed, showing the symmetrical layout characteristic of the Tradition Line.
The date indicator, positioned 180 degrees between 3 and 9 o’clock on the dial, and blue hands curved in cascading tiers to avoid interfering with the inner geartrain, work in retrograde fashion to indicate the date. To be faithful to the design code of this model, the date indicator has been finished with an all-blue color coating, Arabic numerals are transferred with silver-tone powder, and a white gold cabochon is added to make the date countable. The date can be conveniently adjusted individually by pressing the pusher located at 10 o’clock on the case.
At 12 o’clock, the off-center dial is hand-engraved on a 18K gold plate using a rose engine-turning machine, hand-engraved with a Clous de Paris guilloche. And I gave a point by finishing the whole blue coating. Blue is so popular that it is also a color that symbolizes the brand, so it approaches without a lot of difference. And just like its predecessors, the classic Roman index is stamped and the house’s iconic open-tip blue hands (aka Breguet hands) have been added.
The movement is also equipped with the same in-house automatic caliber 505Q as its predecessors. Based on the 14½-line diameter automatic tradition caliber 505 SR that drives the Tradition 7038, with retrograde dates (dates) instead of retrograde seconds (seconds). Consists of a total of 234 parts and 45 jewels, the balance equipped with a silicon balance spring that is not affected by magnetism vibrates 21,600 times per hour, and the power reserve is guaranteed for about 50 hours. The movement can be admired through the transparent sapphire crystal caseback, as well as the distinctive gold rotor shape inspired by the Perpétuelle, the world’s first self-winding movement and watch invented in 1780 by Abraham-Louis-Breguet. For reference, the strap is a midnight blue colored crocodile leather strap with a pin buckle made of the same white gold material as the case.
The domestic release price of Tradition Quantum Retrograde 7597 White Gold Blue Version (Ref. 7597BB/GY/9WU) was set at 47.84 million won, the same as the previous white gold version.
