Since 2019, Seiko has been introducing a limited edition with porcelain (porcelain) dials produced in Arita, a small town in Saga Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan. By bringing traditional craftsmanship into the realm of watchmaking and maintaining a very reasonable price point that matches the brand’s direction, it is getting a good response. From this year on, replica Seiko has collectively referred to these products as the Seiko Presage Craftmanship series. First of all, we introduce two new products with Arita Porcelain Dial.
The two new products are commonly presented in a stainless steel case, with a diameter of 40.5 mm, a thickness of 12.4 mm, and a practical water resistance of 100 meters. The movement is equipped with an in-house automatic caliber 6R31. A variation of the next-generation automatic workhorse 6R35, widely used in the current Seiko Sports lineup, without the date disc and wheels, the balance vibrates 21,600 times per hour (3 Hz), and the power reserve is guaranteed for about 3 days (70 hours), allowing you to Even if you don’t wear your watch, you don’t have to adjust the time on Monday.
The stainless steel bracelet version, SPB293J1, has a white Arita porcelain dial, while the leather strap version, SPB319J1, has a pale blue lapis lazuli color applied from a traditional porcelain dyeing technique called Ruri Zome. This is the first dial type I tried on the Presage Arita Porcelain Dial Limited Edition (SPB267J1), which was released at the end of last year. Whether it is a pure white porcelain dial like elegant white porcelain, or a blue porcelain dial that retains classic and trendy at the same time, you can choose according to your personal preference. Both versions feature a thin, elongated blue Roman index printed on the dial with a hollow inward center and a prominent domed exterior. And again, it was unified with blue hands. For reference, the dial was created by Hiroyuki Hashiguchi, a master craftsman at Arita Porcelain Studio in partnership with the Seiko Group.
The two new Seiko Presage Craftsmanship Series Arita Porcelain Dials (Ref. SPB293J1 and SPB319J1) are all released as regular models rather than limited editions, and the official retail price is set at 1,750 EUR (EUR) each in Europe. It will be available at selected Seiko boutiques and official retail stores worldwide from June.
